Journeys in Uganda Day 4

Today we split into small groups and did some home visits in the slum areas of Kampala. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed by the poverty. These pictures will never do it justice, but hopefully you see the need. I asked our guide if the people who live here know they are poor and she said that they do. The work of @onechildglobal is not to only help a child, but to empower the family to save money or start a business. Whether that's doing laundry for pay or selling produce to break the cycle of poverty.

We visited 8 homes of mostly single mothers living in one room spaces. Each of these families have a child that is supported financially by @onechildglobal. I'm grateful for our local guides Sylvia, Generous and Donna and the driver who got us out of a pickle with his expert driving in reverse.
